Statement from the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce in response to the MBTA Safety Review Panel Report

“Today's report regarding the inadequate focus on MBTA system safety is more troubling news in a disastrous year for a transit system in crisis. Safety must be a top priority. These failures further document the effects of years of under investment and the need to accelerate the efforts underway aimed at building the T's capacity to deliver critical maintenance and capital projects. Correcting this unacceptable situation demands a public, transparent, results-driven approach. We must invest in the system, we must build a workforce, and we must embrace a plan of action that matches the level of crisis so the T can power the region's economic hub safely, reliably, and affordably.”
