Statement from MDP Chair Gus Bickford in Response to Reporting on MBTA Safety Report

“Today’s bombshell report proves what we all already knew, Charlie Baker doesn’t care about the MBTA. Baker’s unwillingness to manage our public transportation system has led to the crisis outlined in the Safety Report released today. The report points clearly to leadership failures that have created a poisonous culture in which safety is clearly not a priority, and fear of blame and retribution prevent employees from raising serious safety concerns. Either Governor Baker just doesn’t care about the MBTA and those of us who rely on it, or he’s completely inept at managing it. Evidence points to both.”
