Budget Process Underway, Gobi Continues To Elevate Central Mass Needs

Boston- The two-year legislative session may be getting ready to come to a close before recess, but State Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer), is hard at work on issues near and dear to her constituency. As the legislature prepares for the release of the Senate’s version of the budget, Gobi is focusing on issues that she believes will best serve the people of her Central Massachusetts district.

Asked about her budget plans, Gobi noted that her office has drawn up thirty-three amendments on issues ranging from economic development, the environment, education, to  public health and public safety. Included among these amendments are key local issues, as received by Gobi from the communities she serves.

Outlining her priorities, the Senator highlighted a few of the specific amendments she will be shepherding through the process.

  • #3 Quarry Testing to prevent against Pyrrhotite

  • #4 Inland Fisheries and Game Fund

  • #21 Buy Local Programs

  • #188 Pyrrhotite Testing reimbursement

  • #418 Healthy Incentives 12 Month Program

  • #648  Wetmore Institute

  • #651 Digital textbooks and Materials Pilot

Additionally, Gobi will focus on bringing state dollars back to her communities to support public works and facilities, and failing school infrastructure.  Commenting on the budget process, Gobi said "I am looking forward to the opportunity to speak before my colleagues and to earn their support on a number of local amendments and state initiatives that are important to the people of my district. It is critical that we maintain state agencies that serve the people of Massachusetts, while maintaining fiscal responsibility."
