Delta Dental of Massachusetts Celebrates National Smile Day With Oral Hygiene Kit Donations

DDMA delivers over 300 dental hygiene kits to three Massachusetts nonprofit organizations: Clinical & Support Options, Veterans Inc, and Winthrop Casa

BOSTON – May 30, 2023 – In honor of National Smile Day, Delta Dental of Massachusetts will donate over 300 adult and children’s dental hygiene kits to three local non-profit organizations: Clinical & Support Options, Veterans Inc., and Winthrop Casa. The kits were assembled and will be delivered by DDMA employee volunteers and include two toothbrushes, two tubes of toothpaste and floss, and oral hygiene educational materials in both English and Spanish.

“Preventive oral health care is key to good overall health and at Delta Dental of Massachusetts, we’re committed to helping our local communities prioritize their oral health,” said Erik Montlack, President of Delta Dental of Massachusetts. “We care deeply about building healthy communities in Massachusetts and these oral health kits are a great way for DDMA employees to get involved and give back in honor of National Smile Day.”

Research shows that overall health and oral health are directly linked, and a recent studyshows that most U.S. adults (92%) and parents (96%) say they consider oral health to be very important to overall health. Supporting local partners in their efforts to improve the oral health of their communities is one way in which Delta Dental further its mission of improving oral health for all.

Over the past year, Delta Dental of Massachusetts supported more than 50 community organizations, including a $200,000 endowment donation to fund scholarships for students of color at Bristol Community College, Middlesex Community College, and Quinsigamond Community College.
