“We tried to learn from other states and once again, do a national-leader, best-practice bill,” Spilka said. “I would have voted yes on this final bill.” She continued. “I’ve said this before that there was an exhaustive process — many discussions, debates, meetings leading up to this sports betting bill ...” Spilka said on WGBH. “A lot of amendments had a debate and a vote on the floor. We reached a consensus.”

Spilka revealed that she would have voted in favor of the sports betting bill passed last month. Sen. Lesser requested a voice vote. No senators objected, in a controversial move that’s since sparked outcry over transparency on Beacon Hill.
